Chamber Series Opens in the Spirit of Folklore

On Monday, 15 September, the beautiful Baroque Refectory of the Professional House was filled to capacity to welcome the 32nd season, the leitmotif of which is folklore.

The evening was presented by the superb Zemlinský Quartet, who invited wonderful guests – oboist Jan Souček, clarinettist Jindřich Pavliš and double bassist Adam Honzírek.

The first half offered a fascinating combination of works by Sergei Prokofiev, Bohuslav Martinů and Darius Milhaud, whose music took us on a journey to distant South American rhythms.

The entire evening was crowned by a majestic performance of String Quartet No. 15 in G major by Franz Schubert, a work that celebrates its 200th anniversary this season.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to our next musical encounters!
