On Life and Transience
On 4 November, Prague Philharmonia presented the third concert of its orchestral series at the Rudolfinum’s Dvořák Hall. Under the baton of Petr Altrichter, the orchestra performed Dvořák’s Biblical Songs and Shostakovich’s final symphony, Symphony No. 15 in A major. In an unusual interpretation of Dvořák’s song cycle, the solo part will be shared by Icelandic mezzo-soprano Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir and Czech bass-baritone Lukáš Bařák. Taking place just a few days after All Souls’ Day, the concert brought together two musical reflections on life, faith and transience.
