Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88
“My Praguers understand me,” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is said to have once remarked — a declaration of love to the city that welcomed him with enthusiasm like no other. In 1787, he dedicated his famous “Prague Symphony” to Prague — a work full of brilliance, wit, and orchestral sophistication. Exactly 240 years later, this masterpiece returns in musical form: the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Wilson Hermanto presents Mozart’s symphony at the Elbphilharmonie.
The programme is completed by Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major, one of the most joyful and melodious symphonies in the world repertoire, reflecting Czech folk tradition and Dvořák’s love of nature.
