Svatopluk Zaal was born in Polička. From 1986 to 1992, he studied at the Brno Conservatory with Prof. Emil Drápela and Prof. Bedřich Dvořáček. He subsequently continued his studies at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno with Prof. Jan Broda from 1992 to 1996.
He has been a trumpeter with Prague Philharmonia since the orchestra was founded in 1994.
In 1998, he also served as principal trumpet of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He regularly collaborates with other orchestras, including the Prague Symphony Orchestra, Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Sinfonietta, Czech Philharmonic, Solistes Européens, Luxembourg, the Orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague, and the Prague Chamber Orchestra.
Since 2005, he has also taught at the Grammar School and Music School of the City of Prague.
